So sorry if you received this twice Dear Mr. Shigehiko Sasaki - Thank you very much for your message there is not time to answer this today in a proper way. Tomorrow will bring enough time to answer your e-mail in full. Please for a short answers .... know for now that as far as I know their has been no GPL violation or are there any plans that there will be a GPL violation. No code from GPL has been mixed with GGPL yet. The copyright holder of GPL code has the right to release his code under other agreements such as GGPL. If the copyright holder agrees to release under GGPL we will consider doing so, but only if it is clear that it is not in violation of GPL. RMS does not hold the copyrights to other peoples code. We have been working on this for over three years and have legal advice. Yes Mr. Sohei Abe of the NihonLinux project is collaborating with the Computer Arts Lab of the University of Aizu. One of several Virtual Networked Organizations VNO's that we collaborate with. Collaborating with the NihonLinux project might give the students of the OS class good experience, but this is the first time to try this so we expect to make some mistakes and have some problems. Humm good question .... Lindows was taken to court in the USA by MS and MS lost. The Linux project has not said anything. You think this is a problem..... Have we missed something here? Turbo Linux. Best Linux, Red Hat Linux, and OpenLinux are some of the names with Linux in them that come to mind. BTW Three years ago we wrote GNU.org about the proposed GNUbook a free source hardware project and the proposed GGPL agreement, that we then called GNU ++. We got an answer back from RMS in summary he said free hardware would not work, but said we should try. Later another GNU.org person got back with us and gave us links to free source hardware people. We when to work on the GNU.org website and publish in 30 days. Gerry Gleason is leading that project. See http://www.gnubook.org The Organis project is working on a simple ruled VNO cellular business structure under GGPL that is very interesting. The GGPL agreement is a basic statement of intent and we consider to be in a beta state. We will soon release revised agreement with the aid of our legal advisers. We will be creating a VNO roof to incubate digital growth. The first paper on that is an interesting read. George Dafermos is leading the Organis project. http://cal05.u-aizu.ac.jp/~cwv/organis/ The HyperFun project is working on the development of independent digital data structures under GGPL agreement that solves the very critical digital data persistence problem. Dr Pasko is leading that project See http://www.hyperfun.org The Synthetic Project at the University of Aizu is working on the development of modeling tools base on HyperFun projects work under GGPL agreement. As an engineer you might be interested in that project. see http://www.u-aizu.ac.jp/~vilb/pap/ich/ich.html The Linux building project Linux Cafe (Kanda 3-13-2, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 03-5209-4770), the foothold of Linux related business, opened on December 5, with Masahiro Hayashi as CEO. Dr.Kunii who is leading that project and founder of the University of Aizu has stated that GGPL is the foundation of the University of Aizu and promotes GGPl as national and international business plan. see http://www.kunii.com It is hard to believe, that the GGPL will work. Gerry, George and many others have this opinion and as they take a closer look they have change their opinions. Well it was not so short and it is to late. Thanks again for your questions. No one can say what RMS will do. He does not political support GGPL now. Best Regards, Carl Vilbrandt Yes Please come to the 3rd annual DALI 2003 workshop held both at the University of Aizu and the Linux Cafe at Akihabara.
